Hostry Festival | 2013

Welcome Note

In 2013 we began to see our offer expanding, with our core projects developing under the creative umbrella of the festival. The Norfolk Arts Awards returned with more nominees and winners from across the county. Total Ensemble provided us with more diversity, creating the phrase Movement Theatre for the first time.

Our Central Production for 2013 was Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, directed by founder member Peter Beck. Rebecca Aldred took the lead role, the first of four major parts she has portrayed for us, with great commitment and clarity.

James Colman joined the festival to coordinate our first visual arts offer with an exhibition at the Hostry entitled My Norfolk. We commissioned Chamber Orchestra Anglia to programme our second classical concert. Founder member Hamilton Wilson wrote a new two hander play “Starlings On The Green”, in partnership with the UEA. We also had the joy of collaborating with Norfolk’s Bo Nana Social Club, who delivered our end of festival party night. Caroline Jarrold and actor Bernard Hill joined our Patrons line up, ensuring more support and interest from people in profile and Norfolk trusts and charities. The Autumn Festival of Norfolk had returned for its 3rd consecutive year.

Fosters Solicitors returned for their second year as our Principal Sponsors.
